The 22-year-old was very active throughout the race, chasing down breakaways before going solo alongside Czechia’s Mathias Vacek in the final lap of the course. The two worked well together, holding off the chasers. In the end, Vacek had no strength left and Fedorov sprinted across the line for the victory. Vacek took the silver medal and Soren Waerenskjold of Norway took the bronze.
