Sagan wins again
The Bora-Hansgrohe team took three national championship wins this weekend. Patrick Konrad won in Austria, Max Schachmann did it in Germany, and Peter Sagan in Slovakia.
“I’m very proud and happy to have won my seventh Slovak national championship. I’d like to thank everybody for their support during the race, it feels nice to be back in Slovakia,” Sagan said after soloing to victory in the combined race with the Czech Republic, which happened in Bánovce and Bebravou on Sunday.
The Slovakian superstar crossed the line 35 seconds ahead of Czech riders Michael Kukrle and Dominik Neuman. The second best Slovak rider, Matus Stocek came in ninth at 3:02. The defending champ and Peter’s brother, Juraj Sagan, didn’t participate as a result of breaking his collarbone in training. The Sagan brothers have dominated the Slovakian Road Race for the past 11 years.
