Egan Bernal Firmly in the Lead of the Giro and Other Cool News from the World of Cycling

By Monica Buck

Another Monday is here, and so is our news from the world of cycling. So, what did you miss?

Campenaerts wins stage 15

Already the eighth time the breakaway managed to hold off the peloton at this year’s Giro d’Italia and it was the hour-record holder Victor Campenaerts (Qhubeka Assos) who proved to be the strongest in the end. He outsprinted Oscar Riesbeek (Alpecin-Fenix) after the pair broke away from the rest of the escapees before the last climb. The peloton came across the line 17 minutes later. All the GC contenders allowed themselves a break before today’s big test ending in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
