When it comes to price, it is hard to beat Decathlon – the French chain that claims to make sports affordable to everyone. Riverside 900 is one of their hybrid bikes. 700c tyres, hydraulic disc brakes and a front fork with 63 mm of travel are the main characteristics of this 10-speed bike. It is very comfortable and light but, in my opinion, could be better aesthetically.

Scott Sub Cross 50
Scott is a legendary historical brand and one of the big players. I find their Scott Sub Cross 50 very beautiful. It is less comfortable than most of the bikes shown in this article because it is designed more towards performance than comfort. It doesn’t come with a front fork, the geometry is more aerodynamic. It mounts Shimano Tourney RD-TX800 with 24 speeds. Tyres are 700x45C. If you want to whizz to work, this is the bike for you.

Specialized Sirrus 1
Specialized is another major historical brand so if you would like to have an easily recognizable bike, you could consider getting the Sirrus 1. One special feature of this bike is that it is available in three colours: black, forest green and lilac. The manufacturer claims that the bike features a reliable set of components that are built to withstand years of daily abuse, which I like. Shimano Altus 7speed, v-brakes, rigid front fork and 700x32c are the key features.

Kellys Carson 10
This hybrid bike got on my radar because a very good friend of mine rides it to work every day and he is very satisfied. The Carson 10 is a perfect commuting bike. It comes with mudguards, lights and a chain guard. Also, it mounts an adjustable stem, which is very thoughtful. Tyres are 700x42C and the front fork has 50-mm travel.

Crossride 250 Rock Machine
Rock Machine is a brand from the Czech Republic. They make decent affordable bikes and Crossride250 is one of them. I consider it more of a commuting bike than Giant Roam because it comes with v-brakes and 700×35C tyres. It also mounts a front fork with 63-mm travel, which helps to tackle cobblestones and roads in bad condition.

Giant Roam 4 Disc 
This is the bike I use regularly for work. It comes with a Shimano Altus group 3×7 speed, 700x42c tyres and hydraulic disc brakes. It mounts a front fork with 63-mm travel. From these specs, you can already understand that Giant Roam4 Disc is a perfect all-rounder. You can mount a kickstand if you wish and bike racks if you like to go bike touring.

Focus WHISTLER 3.5 EQP
The Whistler 3.5 EQP is a bit more expensive but one of the reasons for the extra price is because it comes with pre-installed mudguards and lights that, if you will use this bike for commuting, you would need to buy anyway. This bike is more like a mountain bike than a road bike by having 29” and 27,5” wheel options and mounting 2.1 tyres. Shimano Acera and 24 speeds are the gearing specs.
