The Giro is on
The first Grand Tour of the year has kicked off with the opening time trial and, once again, it was Filippo Ganna who took the opening stage. The second day presented the first opportunity for the sprinters to show their form. And it was Tim Merlier of Alpecin-Fenix who celebrated his debut Grand Tour with a victory in Novara. Merlier is now in the points classification lead, while Filippo Ganna finished safely in the peloton and stayed in the pink.
