After hard openings of the first eight stages, the climbers got their well-deserved rest during yesterday’s stage and today’s tenth stage should be no different. However, we will see the elevation rise during the weekend again. So, who can we expect to fight for the Green?
There are four riders within a minute of each other in the front of the GC. Any of them could explode and win himself a stage and possibly even the Green Jersey. The points are awarded according to the placement at the finish line of every single stage. There are intermediate sprints as well but the number of points awarded there (4 points for the fastest rider) does not make much difference in comparison to the stage wins (25 points for the fastest rider).
Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma) now has a 23-point lead over Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers). In theory, all it would take for Carapaz to claim the Green is one win and one crack by the Slovenian. Will Roglič crack though? What do you think?
Dan Martin sits in third and is back in his very top form after a while. He’s got 73 points to his name so he’s not far behind either. We’ll see who’ll be in the lead on the Alto de l’Angliru.
Who do you think it will be?
