Second title for Porte
The Willunga Hill is often a decisive climb in the Tour Down Under. And Richie Porte hasn’t been beaten on it since 2014. It was therefore no surprise when the Tasmanian sprinted out of the saddle up the climb, tearing up breakaways along the way. He crossed the line ahead of all his GC opponents to claim the overall victory. The only rider who was able to keep up was the Brit Matthew Holmes. The Lotto-Soudal pro even managed to overtake Porte in the final metres and claim the stage victory.
