Elia Viviani Wins the RideLondon-Surrey Classic and Other Cool News from the World of Cycling

By Monica Buck

Another Monday is here and our news from the world of cycling with it. So, what did you miss?

Exceptional lead-out for Viviani

The Italian beat Sam Bennett in the bunch sprint after he was delivered into a perfect position by Michael Mørkøv, who finished third. Alex Dowsett claimed the King of the Mountains jersey after spending most of the day in the break. A major crash towards the front of the peloton with just 2km to go decimated the field. One of the riders left behind was Michael Matthews. Ethan Hayter then led the reduced bunch round the final bend and in the end claimed 10th place. An impressive feat for the 20-year-old British rider. We should keep an eye on this one.
