Porte seals overall victory
Nairo Quintana (Movistar) wasn’t able to close the 17-second gap to Porte (BMC) in the final stage time trial. The Australian actually gained 55 seconds on the Colombian and sealed his GC win. It was Jakob Fuglsang who made the best use of the route and jumped from sixth place to second overall, pushing Quintana back to third.
“Such an honour to finish off all the hard work of the BMC boys over the past 9 days and win Tour de Suisse. Biggest victory of my career!” Porte said after the win.
