All her “breeds” have one thing in common – all of them were made solely of discarded bicycle parts like seats, pedals, cranks, bells but mostly old chains, some even rusted. The cute animals look like they’re ready to hop away for a walk in the nearest park and have life-like proportions of pets we indulge in our homes.
Nirit’s work started with a tough and intimidating Rottweiler that was followed by other heavy metal mates. Long, shaggy hair has been crafted out from the chains, sometimes coloured, sometimes in a natural finish, giving the dogs a rugged look. After experiencing success as a bridal gown designer, Nirit Levav decided to create the dogs with a cycling pedigree for a collection titled “HOW! WOW!”. Even though there’re no reports stating if the dogs can bark, we can imagine hearing them squeaking and creaking when they’re running out of grease.
