The Giro is leaving Israel
Elia Viviani (Quick-Step) took a second consecutive stage win in the Israel part of this year’s Giro d’Italia. His team did a great job of keeping him in a good position for the last few hundred meters and Viviani proved just too fast for Sacha Modolo (EF Education-Drapac), who finished second, as well as for Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe), who was beat down to third.
“They feel I’m a proper leader of the team. That makes the difference and that creates more occasions for me. I’m happy to be here and to win a lot of stages in the Grand Tours. That’s a big goal for me and my career,” Viviani told the journalists after the stage.
Rohan Dennis (BMC) meanwhile maintained the overall lead with Tom Dumoulin right behind him.
