I want results now!
Do you want quick results? I understand, seeing progress keeps you motivated and proves that the diet is working. But we all start from different places, and not everyone’s results will show fast. And that’s completely normal. The problem starts when you don’t stick to your plan, when you start eating less or exercising way too much to accelerate the process. The results may come sooner, but you will most certainly crash and burn because your tempo and lifestyle are not sustainable. The excess weight comes back and you have to start from scratch, discouraged.
My advice: Slow but steady wins the race
Unless you’re a professional martial artist trying to lose weight for a fight, you can wait. Choose a lifestyle and diet you can enjoy and maintain over the long-term. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter if it takes you 2 months or 2 years as long as you keep the excess body fat off. And if you want positive feedback quickly, then forget about your bathroom scale. Think about how you feel now that you’ve improved your diet, how much energy you have, how well you perform and what your sleep quality is like. Those things tend to get better much quicker than your total weight!
