“At the moment we have a clear plan. Tom will go for the general classification at the Giro and he will also go for the Tour, while Wilco (Kelderman) will go to the Tour and the Vuelta,” Visbeek said.
Chris Froome already confirmed he was going for a Giro-Tour double after last year’s victories at Le Tour and La Vuelta, but Dumoulin’s plans were unknown. The Dutchman did, however, admit to weighing up the possibility in January.
Is the clash of the titans really going to happen? Last time Dumoulin did both the Tour and the Giro was in 2016, and he failed to finish either race.
