Biggest Fails in Food Prep and Dieting – The Saddest Cooking Show Ever

By Jiri Kaloc

There’s no shame in not being a good cook or trying to eat on a budget. But when those two things are combined with the most lifeless and awkward personality in front of a camera, you get the saddest and most cringe-worthy cooking show ever created. Let’s check it out, laugh, cry, and learn what cooking isn’t.

Steven Reed on Weber Cooks – Chili Cheese Dip

Just to give you a heads up, the point of this program (and yes, this really aired on TV) was to show how you can make an edible warm meal for a dollar or less using the microwave only. I also feel compelled to add a warning: Don’t try this at home!

It’s not a bad idea to show how to cook on a budget without expensive equipment. But the choice of meals and, more importantly, the execution is just sad, really sad. Not only is the host out of breath, unenthusiastic, inarticulate, and clumsy but it’s missing the whole point of cooking. It’s not enough to just warm-up a pre-made canned food and put it on a plate. That’s called reheating and there are instructions on the label for that. I guess it’s not hurting anyone, at least they tried, and it’s funny in a way. But that still doesn’t explain why Steven didn’t even mix the two damn ingredients properly. Just three lazy stirs. Come on!

Recipe: Easy no-cook salsa

Now this recipe is worth trying at home. It’s made with real, wholesome ingredients and you don’t even need a microwave! It yields about 4 servings and only takes 5 minutes to make. But to be fair, you will have to spend upwards of one dollar!

Ingredients

• 1/4 small onion
• 2 small cloves peeled garlic
• 1/2 jalapeño, seeded
• 400 g of diced tomatoes
• handful of cilantro (or parsley)
• juice of 1 lime
• 1/4 tsp salt

Directions

1. Get a mini chopper or food processor ready if you want this chunky. If you use a blender it will be pureed and the colour will be dull.
2. Place everything in the chopper of food processor and pulse a few times until combined and chunky. Don’t over process.
3. Serve with chips, nachos, or cucumber slices if you’re doing low-carb.
