Overtaking on descents is never a good idea, and we remember the tragic death of Wouter Weylandt all too well. It was at the 2011 Giro d’Italia when the Belgian, trailing the peloton, tried to make up the time during the descent in the final parts of stage 3. He lost control of his bicycle, fell, and sadly died on the spot. And his fellow riders can’t forget the day either.
Not a single team has yet released an official statement, but the pros themselves have spoken. What do you think about the idea? Do you support it? Let us know in the comments.
