You have a liver, use it!
Liver is one of the hardest working organs in the body. It works tirelessly to detoxify your blood, produce the bile needed to digest fat, break down hormones, and store essential vitamins and minerals. Let’s use this article as an opportunity to thank our livers for that amazing work. Here are four tips for appropriate gifts your liver will appreciate. Give generously!
Eliminate toxic foods from your diet
Regular consumption of highly processed foods is what puts the health of your liver at risk. Refined sugar, fried fast-food, processed meats full of additives, and hydrogenated oils in junk food are all toxic. If you avoid them, you will free your liver to do its job.

Eat your vegetables
Cruciferous veggies (cauliflower, cabbage, garden cress, bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts and similar) contain indole compounds that help eliminate carcinogens, increase production of digestive enzymes called glucosinolates that help flush out heavy metals, and contain a lot of potassium that’s important for proper liver function. Want to help your liver? Have some broccoli.
Move your body
The liver stores and processes your blood, that’s why better circulation means better cleansing effects. If your blood isn’t flowing enough, the brain and organs won’t get enough nutrients and the body can become more susceptible to disease. What’s the best way to pump more blood? Go for a bike ride! Move more!

Manage chronic stress
Chronic stress, which can be caused by emotional issues, relationship problems, tight finances, work overload, bad diet, or too much exercise, has a big impact on your endocrine, digestive, and immune systems. Research shows that changes in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis caused by stress promotes inflammatory response and worsens liver damage. If you want your liver to function properly, maybe you should do less in general. Adding another stressor in a form of the latest, most effective “liver detox” might do the exact opposite.
