Review: Play Bike Unchained mobile game for free

By Adam Marsal

I’ve never been much into gaming. You may already know the reasons yourself. Hours in front of the screen steal the time you could be spending with your bike. Now you can do both. Enjoy great downhill runs on the display of your cell phone. We tested a new game titled Bike Unchained that you can download to your Android and iOS devices for free.

Former UCI World Cup racer and current Gstaad-Scott team manager Claudio Caluori is your guide and will see you transform from a rookie newbie right through to slopestyle or a DH superstar. But fame and fortune aren’t the ultimate goal. Team Praedor is threatening to destroy the world’s finest trails and it’s your job to stop them.

You can also compete against friends across realistic DH, enduro and slopestyle trails on some of the world’s best two-wheeled hardware. Some of the sport’s biggest stars feature in the game, including Aaron Gwin, Martin Söderström, Brandon Semenuk, Rachel Atherton and Andreu Lacondeguy.

There are many famous locations from all over the world of the likes of Whistler, beautiful trails in the Alps and magical Japanese forests, plus more to come.

The controls are quite simple. It only requires to tap or swipe the multifunction button on the screen. You tap the right side to cycle, hold it to gain speed, swipe up to jump, and swipe down to prevent yourself from lifting off into the orbit when you go up a ramp. Then there’s the trick stick on the left, which has either four or eight directions depending on how tricksy the racer is. You swipe and hold it in a direction to perform and hold a trick when in the air or to change lanes when on the ground.

The game received mixed reviews but I didn’t find any serious trouble. It took me a serious time to learn how to control the ride but later on I got pretty skilled even in using different kinds of tricks when I got into the air. After some basic lessons it was a real good fun. Even if the only two reasons are that it’s all about biking and it’s for free, it’s still worth to try it.
